First, she helped a movement find its voice. Now she’s helping you find yours.
In 2012, Shannon Watts was a mom of five in her early forties when she started what would become Moms Demand Action, the largest women-led nonprofit in America, with more than 10 million supporters and a decade of legislative, electoral, and cultural wins. She went on to be named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People, a Forbes 50 Over 50 Changemaker, and a Glamour Woman of the Year. Her most recent book, Fired Up: How to Turn Your Spark Into a Flame and Come Alive at Any Age, was an instant New York Times and USA Today bestseller and inspired the creation of the Firestarter Community. Across her career, activism, and coaching, Shannon has spent over 30 years helping women figure out what they want, recognize their own power, and take meaningful action.
Here’s what Shannon learned along the way: The women who change their lives, their communities, and even the world are rarely the loudest, the youngest, or the most credentialed. They’re the women who decide to invest in themselves, make room for their own desires alongside their obligations, and refuse to believe they’re too old or it’s too late to discover what lights them up – and then find the community who will cheer them on, challenge them, and remind them what they’re capable of.
“When your values, abilities, and desires come together, it’s an alchemy that can feel like magic, a profound or transcendent force that feels like touching the divine.”
